Microbiome research and personalized nutrition have evolved rapidly recently demonstrating its relevance in human health. Given that, it is very important to determine the composition of the gut microbiota and be able to understand how to modulate it through nutrition. Specifically, the use of bioactives can influence the gut health and support the immune system. To interconnect the physiological processes like digestion, immune function and metabolism and as apart of personalised diet, we will develop a novel immune-supporting through microbiome modulation dietary supplement that will be validated by a "gut-on-a-chip" technology that will be further advanced in this project.
